Triskel Potters

Triskel Potters is a partnership between Cindy and Darryl Lentz of “Right Off The Batt” and Peggy Davidson of “PD Pottery”.

The Triskel is a symbol consisting of three interlocking items that when formed together become one. It can be a three pointed knot, interlaced fish, legs, circles or spirals. Depending on who you are talking to the TRISKEL is a symbol that represents any number of different meanings. In religion it represents the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), In Wiccan and Neopagan belief it symbolizes the maid, mother and crone. The Triskel has also been know to represent the triplicities of mind, body and soul and according to Celtic legend it symbolizes the three domains of Earth, Sea and Sky or to others Earth, Wind and Fire.

Peggy, Cindy and Darryl are three potters who have combined their talents, skills and expertise to create a line of Celtic inspired pottery. When looking for a name to call ourselves we agreed the TRISKEL knot well represented us as “the power of three, acting as one”.

We exhibit yearly at the Annual Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, Ontario. Our booth is located between the Grandstand and the VIP building. We are also vendors at the Annual Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Fergus, Ontario. There we are set up next to the Dancer’s Competition stages at the end of the Fair grounds where the Heritage Tent is set up. At both of these shows we always bring one of our wheels with us and do daily demonstrations of wheel throwing and hand-building techniques for the general public. Our audience is almost always quite captivated as they watch how a simple ball of clay becomes a bowl, vase or other vessel of sorts as it gently glides through the hands and fingers of the potter. Children are often our biggest fans. Through out the day groups of them gather to sit cross-legged on the ground just inches in front of the wheel. Behind them stand their parents just as attentive and amazed as their children are. The interaction between potter and audience is really quite a sight to behold. There are lots of questions asked and answered and plenty of requests made for certain shapes and items to be made.

We are quite excited to once again see our repeat customers and eagerly look forward to meeting many new ones.
